These are the Terms and Conditions which must be approved to undertake training with Robert’s School of Motoring.

 

1) Driving Licence 

(a)  You Must be of legal age to drive and hold a valid UK/Northern Ireland category B driving licence (full or provisional).  A driving licence check code should be provided to us before the first lesson so an online check can be done.  The licence must be produced for the first lesson and will be checked regularly.   Non UK citizens without must produce a valid EU or International licence.

(b)  You Must inform us if you receive any endorsements on your licence during the time you are receiving tuition, including any short period disqualifications (SPD).

(c)  You Must inform us of any special needs or medical conditions you may have that might affect your ability to drive.  You must meet minimum eyesight requirements which means to read a standard number plate at a minimum of 20.5 metres (67 feet). If glasses or contact lenses are required these must be worn whenever you drive.  This will be checked on your first lesson.

 

2) Client Well-being

(a)  In the interests of safety you are required to wear suitable footwear and comfortable clothing which does not restrict movement, please just ask us for any advise you require.

(b)  You Must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  If on medication check it is still safe and legal to drive.

 

3)  Driving School Bookings And Cancellations

(a)  A lesson that is officially booked,  will recorded in my diary and details given to the client.  It will end at the same place as the pick up location, unless pre-agreed arrangements were made.

(b)  We will always strive to be punctual however if unforeseen circumstances cause delay of over 15 minutes we will contact you to make sure the lesson is still suitable for you.

(c)  If by reason of a vehicle failure or other emergency a lesson has to be postponed at short notice, an alternative appointment will be made with mutual consent.  If the postponement of a driving test, the school will be responsible for the test fee if it cannot be cancelled within the required time.

(d)  Driving tests take priority over lessons, therefore,  pre-booked lessons may have to be cancelled or postponed if the school receives short notice of a driving test for another client.

 

4)  Client Bookings And Cancellations

(a)  A lesson that is officially booked will be given to the client either digitally, phone or by appointment card.  It will end at the same place as the pick up location, unless pre-agreed arrangements were made.

(b)  The lesson will commence from the appointed time or the instructors time should it be later. We will wait for 15 mins from arrival at pick up location.

(c)  At least 24 Hours Notice Must Be Given for Cancellations or FULL payment of lessons will be charged.

(d)  You should give as much notice as possible when cancelling and clients who repeatedly cancel may not be booked in for future lessons.

 

5)  Driving Tests

(a)  We will advise the appropriate time to make a test booking.  The advice will be made on your progress to date.  It does NOT imply the necessary standard has been reached or that it   will for certain be reached by the appointed test date.  This is to maintain road safety and save you loss of time and expense for an unnecessary failure.

(b)  We reserve the right to withhold the vehicle for lesson or a test if we have the opinion the client is:

1)  Not at test standard.

2) Medically unfit or under the influence of drink or drugs.

3)  Consistently fails to keep or is late for appointments or has payment issues with the school.

(c)  It is the clients responsibility to inform us of the correct date and time of test.  It is your responsibility to take the correct documents with you on test, failure to do so may result on your test being cancelled and loss of fee.

 

6)  Legal Liability

(a)  You should be aware that the school uses a fully qualified instructor and the primary objective is to promote road safety.  In doing so, we will have to issue instructions in which clients must be prepared to carry out without undue argument.

(b)  We train you to the highest standard but can in no way be held liable for any errors you commit whilst driving and not accompanied by your instructor either before or after a test pass.

(c)  At all times the client is legally in charge of the vehicle and is liable for any fines or charges levied as a result of any motoring offence committed.

(d)  The schools training car is fully insured for tuition and tests however we are not liable for loss of or damage to any property belonging to or in the possession of the client.

(e)  Lessons in clients own car must be fully insured for teaching for reward and the instructor is covered by such insurance to drive the car.  This must be confirmed by the clients insurers.  The instructor can in no way be held liable for any damage or accident if clients wish to learn in their own car.

(f)  We comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and any personal data we have is only to be used for the purpose it has been provided and will not be shared with any other third parties.

7)  Complaints

(a)  If you are unhappy with any aspect of your tuition you should tell us without delay,  and not later than seven days from the date on which the cause of complaint arose.  Every effort will be made to satisfactorily deal with the complaint, these “Terms and Conditions” and the “Code of Practice” for “Approved Driving Instructors” forming the basis for negotiations.

(b)  Should any dispute be unresolved mutually the client has the right to refer the matter to the Motor Schools Association of Great Britain Ltd, full details www.msagb.com

 

8)  Payments

(a)  Payments should be made before, or at the start of the lesson or test, unless prior arrangements have been made.

(b)  Following payment methods accepted  –  Cheques should be made payable to Robert Smith.  For Bank Transfer payments – account number  00746009  sort code 83-22-29 

Cash and Card Payments are also accepted. 

(c) Pre-paid lessons including block bookings and gift vouchers must be used within 18 months from the purchase date.
